On June 24, two major earthquakes struck northern Venezuela, the strongest in over a century.
At the time of writing, we've gotten reports from partners saying that over 900 people have perished and hospitals in Venezuela are at capacity and turning away patients. Meanwhile, power is out and food and water sources are quickly becoming a challenge.
"Medicines are needed, especially antibiotic creams to use on the countless cuts and scrapes experienced," one of our partners who regularly serves in Venezuela told us. "Stores are all shut down, so buying anything is nearly impossible."
At times of disaster, the medical situation is urgent, not only to help the injured and displaced, but also because pharmacies and personal supplies are often out of commission.
Whether you're with a medical response team or not, there are ways everyone can help. Below, we've detailed things to consider if you're responding to the need in Venezuela medically, as well as how you can give financially.

If you're researching where to start with a disaster response medical order:
For suggested items, please see this page about disaster relief, or use this Disaster Relief Medical Treatment Launch Guide, designed for teams needing a blueprint for a disaster relief order.
We recommend teams take hygiene kits (item #: BCARE), as well as first aid kits (item #: 1STAID) and medical supplies.
You can also preview our catalog for medicines and supplies intended for international use.
