We sat down with our Vice President Strategic Development, Laura Berry, who faithfully attends the Global Missions Health Conference year after year, and asked for her specific perspective on global health in light of the upcoming Global Missions Health Conference.

1. What trends or needs are you seeing in global health right now?

Based on the dismantlement of USAID, particularly its global health programs, and the resulting funding cuts, non-profit pharmaceutical distributors are experiencing significant shifts. We are assisting* in the pivot away from reliance to identifying strategies to sustain the supply chain.

2. In what ways does Global Missions Health Conference open doors for collaboration and global impact that some people might not have otherwise?

Medical missionaries can often operate in isolation, with teams working in challenging locations. GMHC provides a vital opportunity to connect with one another, share experiences, and build a supportive community. This networking can lead to sharing best practices and the building of new partnerships.

3. Why is it important for medical professionals engaged in missions to gather at GMHC?

GMHC provides a crucial platform for connection, education, and collaboration. The unique challenges of working in resource-limited settings make this kind of gathering invaluable.

4. Why do you believe GMHC is a unique space for both seasoned medical missionaries and those just starting out?

Bringing together both seasoned and new medical missionaries creates a dynamic environment that benefits everyone involved. The synergy between these two groups is critical for the growth and sustainability of the medical mission field. The various sessions are sure to be informative and helpful for even the most niche callings.

5. What encouragement would you give to medical professionals who feel called to missions but are unsure where to begin?

The first step in your exploration is to pray and ask the Holy Spirit to lead your encounters at the conference. Take time to meet the exhibitors and attend the various breakout sessions. The Holy Spirit will make it clear which organization to serve with. The Lord has a way of putting his willing servants in places where He can use them.

6. What is the primary reason Blessings International exhibits at GMHC?

While we always want to tell people about Blessings’ services, we’re passionate about helping mission teams understand that consistency, quality, and long expiration dates lead to best practices on the mission field.

7. Where can we find you at GMHC?

Come see us at the first-floor exhibit hall! We’ll be in our usual place, booth 1701-1702. Can't wait to see you there.
