“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.”
Matthew 5:14 NLT
Two hundred and fifty years ago, America began with the conviction that this new country would be a light on a hill, a free nation that would glorify God and promote the rights endowed by Him.
It was with a similar calling that Blessings International began forty-five years ago. Our founder, Dr. Harder, had seen the ravages of poverty in Guatemala and the difficulties mission teams went through to acquire medications. With God’s prompting, he believed a non-profit distributor could obtain medications for missions more effectively, thereby helping more people and bringing glory to God.
Small Beginnings
Blessings International began in 1981 in a garage with little more than obedience to God’s calling and some medical connections. In the first year, we served twelve ministries.
Today, we are reaching up to 12 million people all around the world with medications, vitamins, and medical supplies. Our facility is now a 14,000-square-foot warehouse where twenty-one employees work full-time serving our partners as they provide hope and healing in the United States and around the world.
Branching Out…While Staying Rooted
We believe Blessings International is only beginning.
What was planted forty-five years ago, watered, and tended faithfully over decades is now growing in new ways. Every month since December 2025, we’ve celebrated records. Each month—from December to May—has been the best month of its kind on record, and January and March were both best months ever for orders and lives impacted. Seeing this trend upward is humbling as we witness anew the sheer need for the most essential medicines. At the same time, we’re deeply grateful for everyone over our forty-five years who has told others about Blessings International and trusted us with supplying their medical efforts.
Over the past thirteen years, our CEO, Barry Ewy, has carefully and persistently led Blessings International to new horizons.
“We’ve realized there’s a whole lot more we can do to help a hurting world,” Dr. Ewy says. “We’re fortunate to expand our reach while staying true to our roots.”
Staying committed to our mission to heal the hurting, build healthy communities, and transform lives, we are branching into new spheres where there is need and the opportunity to help more people. A few of these areas include:
- Legacy giving program – We have seen first-hand how the partners we work with (both donors and those taking our products to the needy) want to make a life-long impact. We have developed a program called Leave a Legacy of Hope and Healing to help those who
want to make an impact far beyond their lifetime—whether through wills, donor advised funds, IRA gifts, and other practical options. We’re always humbled when people entrust Blessings International with their legacy. It’s an incredible gift, one that will ensure hope and healing for generations to come. - Special partnerships – Blessings International has had the honor of creating unique partnerships lately. One of them is the Texas A&M University’s BUILD program, which is designing and building medical clinics out of shipping containers. These portable clinics are serving areas with extremely low access to medicine, including here in the United States. Their recent batch of “container clinics” are serving communities in Texas, Massachusetts, Nigeria, Kenya, and Ukraine.
We’re always open to opportunities that allow us to work with partners to further global health. As Barry Ewy, CEO, says, “While some opportunities may not be in the daily scope of business, we’re open to exploring the opportunities when they further the greater mission to heal the hurting.” - Reaching more people at home – Over the last seven years, we’ve been intentional to better support US-based efforts (safety-net clinics, pregnancy resource centers, etc.) Orders for US-based medical services have increased 579% since 2019. This demonstrates not only the need but the amazing work being done by our partners within the United States. And we’re seeing new clinics and centers create accounts with us every month.
A New Frontier
While we celebrate the United States’ 250th birthday, local clinics are much on our mind.
Did you know that US-based clinics (including pregnancy resource centers and charitable pharmacies here in the USA) make up 7% of our output?
However, financial donations cover only one-third of the total we give US clinics through discounts and gifts-in-kind. We’re dedicated to helping those serving our neighbors and the unborn here in the land we love, and support of the USA fund is greatly needed.
Will you help us continue to be a light on a hill for the next forty-five years and beyond? Give here or see donation form at the bottom of the page.
"In terms of [ordering from] Blessings International, it’s really opened up a highway for us in order to effectively get medication that we need for our patients. …It’s directly helping us satisfy what we’re here to do and why we’re here to do it. It’s life-changing. We see it in our patients every day. …It couldn’t be possible without what we get through Blessings.”
