Pakistani Earthquake
Relief Efforts
As shared in the Pakistani
Earthquake Report, the earthquake affectees need major assistance with
depression that is beginning to set in. Blessings is planning to help send a
small team that has expertise with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder shortly to
Pakistan for the purpose of teaching sound mental health principles and
practices. Hopefully the team will be able to teach these principles to
Pakistanis who in turn will teach the affectees these principles in their
respective languages. Any success will bring with it a demand for printed
literature as well as many more teachers.
Another problem in the affectees’ camps which contain some 3.6 million people
living on ground cloths in tents is the rapid spread of scabies, a highly
contagious body mite that causes severe itching and is known as the “seven year
itch”. Blessings hopes to develop reformulated medicine that may be an
inexpensive treatment to care for these traumatized people.
